Hello my creative friends!

Townscapes have always fascinated me, to imagine the people living there now or centuries before, it is just precious! It has also been the subject that I have been painting for the longest. Over the years, as I have changed, so have my towns, Even though the class is called Happy Town, we will not miss the opportunity to add some fun people as well! I am excited to share my process with you since I love the freedom mixed media offers me. Painting, printing, adding collage, working with a palette knife, and using oil pastel, is so much fun! Gathering inspiration

Preparing the projects

We will use reference pictures but also venture outside to sketch and gather inspiration. You will learn how to simplify your subjects and prepare your own and unique collage pager that we will use in our paintings.

Townscape

First project

In this project, we will work from our sketches and now integrate collage paper, acrylic paints and work with a palette knife. I will show you step by step my personal working process. A fun way to play with texture, pattern and line work.

An imaginary happy island

Second project

In this painting, you can really let your imagination go wild! A magical island with a theme - full of flowers, funny people, quirky buildings...what will you come up with? We will draw from the experience and techniques in our first project and have now the confidence to apply it! This will truly let our imaginations take flight! I can't wait to see your Happy Island!

Make your own stamps

Bonus lesson

As our BONUS, I'll show you how to make gorgeous, unique, homemade stamps! We will be using these to create our fabulous collage papers too! I think it brings that extra personal touch to your paintings! It's super easy and fun! You are going to adore creating your very own personalized stamps! You will reach for them again and again!
