Cratures with character with Yvonne Morell

Hello my creative friends!

I am so excited to share my love and fascination for animals with you. It may be my extremely spoiled and high maintenance cat, or some curious chickens that I can't stop observing and sketching - any creature is welcome! We will approach this theme with some new, surprising techniques and give our lovely friends a privileged spot on our canvases. If you aren’t experienced in drawing or painting, no worries - you can let your imagination go wild and create expressive creatures! This class is for any animal lover! Join me and lets start painting! xo, Yvonne

Here is a description of the individual fun projects!

Ink and acrylic

First project

This is an exciting technique, working with acrylic and ink! We use reference pictures or invent a new, fun creature. We look at the importance of layering paint to create depth and a way to achieve harmonious color combinations. We will use ink in a whole new way to enhance your painting! You are going to LOVE this!

Sketching and painting intuitively

Second project

This is a wonderfully relaxing way to create and will spark your inner child too! We start with some warm up exercises and just play to loosen up. We plan our project before moving on to the canvas, placing it into a desirable composition. After preparing a base color that will unify our painting we will enjoy painting in a loose and expressive way!

Students comment

Wow what fun! I decided to jump in at the deep end after watching the videos and try my hand at a portrait instead of doing the chicken. I was so intrigued, curious and exited to try out this technique on a face and see what would happen. The end result is awesome as it gave the picture so much more depth and extra detail that would not have been visible without the black ink wash. Thank you Yvonne Morell for sharing this super awesome technique! I can’t wait to try another painting using this technique.
